It's Up to Parents to Teach Children God's Word
by Voddie T. Baucham, Jr.

Imagine your boss came into your office and said, "Congratulations, you have just been promoted." What if that promotion meant stepping into a job for which you felt inadequate and/or unprepared? How would you respond? Would you say, "Thank you, sir, but I am not up to the task"? Or would you say, "Thank you, sir, I'll do my best"?  I think most of us would welcome the challenge and rise to the occasion.

As parents, that's exactly what God said to us when He gave us children. He said, "Congratulations, you've just been promoted to the position of parent." That means that everything God requires of parents is part of your new job description. At this point you have two choices. You can either say, "Thank You, God, but You must have taken momentary leave of Your senses. There's no way I can train my children in the Word." Or you can say, "Thank You, God. I know You don't make mistakes, and if You gave me this child, You will also give me everything I need to bring her up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." Children Photo

At Cleary Baptist Church, it is our goal to equip and walk with parents as they disciple their children.  When you combine the strength of the body of Christ with the heart of a caring family, you will exponentially expand your potential to make a difference in the life of your child.  The influence of the church and you as a parent combined will make a greater impact than either influence alone.  We know that there are thousands of books and resources on how to become better parents.  We want to say up front that we believe the best resource is the Holy word of God.  Below you will find a detailed parenting resource page.  This page has been designed with our parents in mind; to help you disciple your own children as we join with you in that effort.  We love children and teenagers here at Cleary.  We are very thankful you have allowed us the opportunity to partner with you in raising your child to love Jesus more than anything else in life!

Parents need an idea of where to point their children.  If you have an idea of the goal for which you are aiming, it will help set your child on the appropriate trajectory.  Some of the following books are also books your child should read or that you will want to read together with your child and discuss.  Becoming familiar with the content of these books will help you determine the appropriate time to introduce them to your child.
