The Radical Experiment

Beginning September 12th, the people of Cleary will begin the Radical Experiment.  In the book Radical by David Platt, we will read about the Radical Experiment in chapter 9.  The chapter is entitled, One Year to a Life Turned Upside Down.  The experiment calls for a one year commitment to 5 things.

1.  Pray for the Entire World

If we are going to be used of God to reach the world, here is where we must start.  We are going to equip you to pray for the entire world over the course of a year.  Will you make the commitment?

2.  Read through the Entire Word

If we are going to be used of God to reach the world, we must know God and receive His heart for the nations.  The place to do that is in His Word.  We will give you a plan to read through the entire Bible-Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 over the course of a year.  Will you make the commitment?

3.  Sacrifice your Money for a Specific Purpose

What would it look like for you (or your family) to make intentional sacrifices over the next year for the glory of Christ in light of specific, urgent needs in the world?  What would happen in our lives, families, and church if we sacrificed to help feed the 26,000 starving children in the world, to provide clean drinking water to the thirsty, and the gospel to those who do not know Christ?  God can impact people from here to the ends of the earth through our sacrifice.  Sacrifice is not giving according to your ability; it's giving beyond your ability.  Will you make the commitment?

4.  Spend your time in another context

The commission to go and make disciples is a command, not a calling.  The question is, "where will we go and how long we will stay."  We want to challenge and equip you to spend at least 2% of your time, approximately one week, in the next year in another context on mission for Christ.  Will you commit to take the gospel to another context in the world?

5.  Commit your life to a multiplying community

The global purpose of Christ was never intended to be accomplished by individuals.   In order to keep your commitments you will need support, encouragement, and accountability.   This can be accomplished during the Sunday school, on Wednesday nights, or on some other night of the week in a home.  Where Christians lock arms with one another in communities of faith pursuing a radical Savior, the very gates of hell cannot stop the spread of God's glory.
